As families outgrow their surroundings there may come a time to make the decision to move into a larger home or simply add a home addition to their existing house. More and more families who have the room on their residential property to build an addition are choosing to stay. ZITRO has made it part of our company’s mission to improve family life by being the preferred residential home addition contractor in Baton Rouge and the surrounding communities.
Here we show a New Addition and major Remodel for a two story home located in Baton Rouge. This first image above is of replacing the roof with a standing seam white metal roof system. This front porch addition was completed by matching the foundation piers on the house. The front posts are cypress. A clear sealer was applied on the cypress posts for the natural wood look.

Before continuing with the finished project, we next show the original home which was outdated and much smaller. These images will allow you to better appreciate the full scale of the Home Addition and Remodeling that took place.

The inside was also outdated and the rooms were simply too small.

A lot of planning took place with William R Powell, A.I.A. Architect, LLC.

A new front porch was completed as part of the project featuring composite Trex decking.

Upon entering the home is the stairway leading to the 2nd floor. The stairs were completed by blending the original wood finishes and adding new stair treads which were stained to match. The living room was completed by installing new oak flooring to match the existing floors and refinished. A natural wood look was created by using a clear sealer and no stain.

The dining room of the main house was completed by refinishing the Oak flooring. Decorative globe chandelier was installed where the dining table will go. The angle from the dining room into the kitchen shows the peninsula cabinet with an overhang for bar seating. Pendant lights complete the peninsula cabinet area.

The new bedrooms in the addition were also completed with Oak hardwood floors and white casement windows. The master bathroom offers a blend of large format plank tile flooring, white subway tile with gray grout and a ProStone Elite White Cloud quartz counter. Again we see a blend of brushed stainless and brushed gold hardware.

Heading back downstairs, we see the expanded kitchen remodeled with 14″ plank tile floors which resembles wood. The counters are a white quartz.

The kitchen cabinets were painted with a two-tone design. White upper cabinets with blue lower cabinets and white subway tile in between. Notice the mix of finishes between the stainless appliances and the brushed gold cabinet hardware!

Off from the kitchen is the mudroom that includes the pantry storage cabinet for the kitchen, and storage cabinets for the washroom area. The white subway backsplash tile and ProStone Elite Mystic White quartz for the counters. The mudroom/washroom offers tremendous storage with large floor to ceiling cabinets and a bench for hanging clothes complete with a sitting area for shoes.

This angle of the rear of the project shows the casement windows, rear porches and exterior of the mudroom/washroom.

The rear porch railings were done with a veranda composite railing system. The entry doors offer maximum light with full glass panels on the door slabs. The second rear porch was also completed with a combination of Trex decking and veranda railings.

This angle shows the seamless transition of the two-story home addition which included two bedroom and full bathroom and two rear porch decks. The walls were finished with a cement siding.
